“And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went …”.Genesis 22:3
Jesus speaking in the book of John 8:56 says: “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad” ( KJV) While Hebrews 11:13 declares : “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (KJV) They saw the promise afar off and as a result decided to live as pilgrims on earth. That was Abraham!
So what is the proof that Abraham saw the Lord? The answer is in Genesis 22:2. It says “Abraham, take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.” And he woke up very early and saddled his ass and went to offer the only son that he waited 25 years for. As far as Abraham was concerned, nothing was more valuable to him at that time than God Himself. When you see him nothing else matters. He becomes priority in your life. Every other thing loses value.
In Mark 14:1-9, Jesus said to all those who were angry with the woman that broke the alabaster box to “leave her alone”. She has done something wonderful. She has seen what others didn’t see. Many times, we try to become religious with the things of the scriptures. So, Jesus said stop getting religious with me. You will have the poor always, and you don’t have me always. She had done what she could. Why? Because she saw the Lord. She saw that this is my Saviour who would pay the price for my redemption, and so she broke the alabaster box of ointment and poured it upon Him. Child of God, when you see the Lord, you will pour it all out. No one would beg you to live your life for Jesus.
