REST ON GOD’S PROMISES
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Wednesday 4th December 2024

“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” Hebrews 4:10-11 (KJV)

In my years of ministry, I have observed that many church folks have alternative plans. Child of God, stop having plan B or plan C. Just stay in God’s plan and watch God flex His muscles. Relax, knowing that it is already settled. Some believers are busy worrying over what has been paid. If God can care for ants, don’t you know that you are more valuable than ants? Just believe Him. The more I read the scripture, the more I discover that God never intended us to struggle about anything. As believers, everything about us is already covered. It is our refusal to rest that is making us not see the result. If you are working, God will not be working simultaneously. He that keeps you does not slumber nor sleep. So why are you refusing to sleep? Why are you stressed out? God is a specialist in handling challenging situations. Rest and watch Him do what He specialises in doing.

The only labour we are called to do is labour to rest. In other words, labour to believe Him. That is all! Just labour to believe God. Find God’s promises to you and hold on to them. That is all it takes.

What do you think brought Rehab out of prostitution? Only one word: believe! Everyone thought that she would never be anything better. They thought she was going to die a prostitute. But the Bible declared that this woman believed. Before the spies came, she believed in the Lord God of Israel. She told them; I know your God has already given you the land; so she negotiated her redemption. Right there and then, her story changed. Bible historians declared that later on, one of the spies called Salmon married her. Your story will change! Your story will never end in shame.
