IT’S CHRISTMAS!
By Bishop Mike Okonkwo

Wednesday 25th December 2024

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

Many people have taken time to major in the minors: what exact day was Jesus born? Was it December 25 or January 25? These are non-essentials. The important thing is: was Jesus born? Yes. That is all that matters.

Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. I am so excited because His coming paved the way for us to boldly enter the throne of grace. His coming delivered us from slaughtering the bulls and goats and birds to cover our sins. Today, our sins are no longer covered; they are forgiven because of what Jesus did for us.

Today, we celebrate His coming because He would not have paid the supreme price on the cross for you and me if He were not born. Thank God for Christmas, but the most significant thing to do today is not partying and picnicking; it is sharing the good news with someone out there. In addition, spread the love of God by lending a helping hand to someone today. Share your food and drinks with someone who does not have enough to eat. Be the light in your world. Let someone thank God for you coming across their path today.

Finally, take quality time to thank God for Jesus. Meditate on all His birth, death, burial and resurrection made available to you. Celebrate Him for coming into this world and paying the price for our salvation. If you can honestly think, then you will be full of thanks. Once again, compliments of the season.
