EXCELLENCE

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17 (KJV)
As a believer, you are the expression of God to the world. The world may not see Jesus physically, but each time they encounter you, they expect to see Jesus and that is what God wants us to be – His physical representatives here on earth – His ambassadors. So, as He is, so are we, not in heaven, but right here on earth. The question is who is He? He is EXCELLENT. Someone rightly said that our work is a form of worship, and we will not give to the customer whatever we cannot offer as worship unto God.
God is excellent in all His ways. If God were to be an accountant, He will be the best. If He were to be a Gardner, He will be the best. If He were to be a Doctor, He will be the best. So why are you less than the best? Wherever you go as a believer and whatever you do, your watchword must be excellence.
This is not just about service in the church; it is everywhere you find yourself. If your work is not excellent, then you are not representing God in that organization. The same thing applies to our service in the Church, no matter the department you are in, decide that excellence must be your watchword. If you have not taken the time to score a song, as a choir, don’t sing it. If you are not prepared to usher with courtesy, then don’t minister, if you are not ready to clean the church so well that there is no speck of dust, then join another ministering arm. Excellence in our service to God is not negotiable. Yes, we are not infallible, but do all within your power to deliver your assignment, whether in church or in the office or school with excellence because you are the Ambassador of God – who is Excellent in all His ways.
“Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as his beloved sons and daughters.” Ephesians 5:1. Remember He is Excellent.
