DREAM BIG
Bishop Mike Okonkwo02 January, 2021
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3:20 MSG
One of the tragedies of the believer is the inability to take full advantage of the promises of God. Many times, believers behave like the person who decided to go to the river to get water but went with a tablespoon. Can you imagine that? Now before you laugh it off, are you not like that? God has given you a blank cheque, but what are you doing with it?
Our word for the year is very clear– God reassures us of His ability and indeed His readiness to give us whatever we can ever imagine, guess or request even in our wildest dreams. The question is: do you have a dream? Do you have a request? Or did you just scribble something on paper and threw in the prayer box without any form of expectation?
I know the last year may have been tough. I know that some requests appear delayed and you feel like giving up. But I have come to challenge you never to give up. You will surely have the last laugh. God has a plan for you. He is ready to do exceeding abundantly above all that you can ever ask or think. So don’t waste this blank cheque; get your imagination working. If you can see it in your mind’s eye, God says He can do it. If you can dream it, God says He can make it happen. Yesterday is gone; 2020 is gone and gone forever. Don’t relive the year; it is time to move on. Whether the year was all rosy or challenging is not the issue. The issue is that there is a need to forget the past; there is a need to align your thoughts with His promises.
I dare you to take God at His word this year and watch Him come through for you. You will testify in Jesus’ name.

#ExceedingAbundantlyFORGET TO BE FRUITFUL
03 January, 2021“And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house. And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” Genesis 41:51-52
I know some people have had rough seasons of life and they are tempted to think 2021 is like one of those years. The devil has jumped on your shoulder to remind you of the dance into 2020 and what the year turned out to be. You may be there and the devil has flooded your mind with disappointments of the past years and you are tempted to just coast through the year expecting nothing. Child of God, that is a lie from the very pit of hell. Don’t give the devil a foothold in your life by taking those thoughts. It is time to forget the past and move on to the bright future ahead of you.
Our scripture today talks about Joseph, Jacob’s favourite child who was sold into slavery by his brothers. Eventually, the Lord turned his captivity around and what his brothers meant for evil turned out in his favour. However, Joseph had a choice to be bitter; but he knew that the key to walking in the fulness of God’s purpose was to forget the past so that he could be fruitful. No wonder he named his first child ‘forget and the second ‘fruitful.’ Notice that he did this even before his brothers came begging. He did this when there was no hope of reconnecting with his family. He knew that to move forward, he had to let go of the baggage of the past.
What baggage are you carrying? I encourage you today to drop it. A songwriter says: “Yesterday is gone” and indeed, that is true. 2020 is gone forever and this is a brand new year. Forget the past; be excited about this year because God is set to exceed your expectations.
I will hear your testimony In Jesus’ name.
